The Tarver Family
The Tarver Family has a long history of supporting Piedmont Athens Regional. Since 2005, contributions from the Tarvers have benefitted the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, the construction of the Griffin-DuBose Healing Lodge, updates to the PAR Guest Houses, and most recently, a gift to PAR’s Tower Construction Fund recognized with the naming of the Jack Tarver Family Courtyard.
This beautiful space can be accessed from the Townley Family Lobby or from the Resource Room and provides a peaceful respite from the flurry of activity nearby. Coined the Jewel Box Garden in early architectural renderings, the Jack Tarver Family Courtyard’s lush plantings and shaded garden area greets guests as they cross the threshold at the Main Entrance.
Jackson W. Tarver, III was born at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital and remains grateful for the care that he and his family have received for generations across the Piedmont Healthcare system. “It was truly the hospital we used whether for knee scrapes or car accidents,” Tarver says of his family’s experiences with Piedmont.
Living in the Athens area for a while, he developed an affinity for Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, and continued on his family’s legacy of healthcare philanthropy. While he and his wife spend most of their time in the mountains of North Carolina, Jack’s appreciation for a strong, local healthcare system is evident in his generous support through the Jack Tarver Family Foundation.
