Chuck and Cathy Peck

Dr. Chuck Peck came to Athens Regional as interim CEO in 2014. Shortly thereafter, he was named CEO during a time when the hospital was experiencing significant operational and financial challenges. His strong leadership not only stabilized the hospital, but set the organization on a course for continued success well into the future.

He worked closely with the leadership and board of directors to determine the right fit for a partner, and that partner was Piedmont Healthcare. Dr. Peck helped Athens Regional navigate an integration into the larger system and rebuilt a culture of ownership among employees.

One of the most significant impacts Dr. Peck had on our hospital was the orchestration of a new Master Facility Plan which included the opening of the Oconee Health Campus and the vision for the new Piedmont Athens Regional Tower.

Dr. Peck served at Piedmont Athens Regional until the Spring of 2019.

While Dr. Peck’s contributions to the hospital were many, his wife Cathy also spent numerous hours volunteering her time as a member of the Piedmont Athens Regional Auxiliary serving at the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support as well as reading to patients in PAR’ Pediatrics unit. The pair truly left a mark on Piedmont Athens Regional and the Athens community living up the mantra of leaving it better than they found it.

Their many contributions are recognized through the naming of the Charles and Cathy Peck Garden located within the University Vascular Courtyard.
